What Private Really Means at a Spa

Journal

Wood-panelled room with two massage beds

The word “private” can describe several different arrangements. It may mean a treatment room for two, a hammam reserved during a time slot or exclusive use of a larger area. Before booking a couples or small-group spa visit, ask which meaning applies to the offer you are considering.

Name the space that is reserved

Ask which areas are for your party and which may be shared. The treatment room, bathing area, changing facilities and relaxation space can each have a different arrangement. A description should make those boundaries easy to understand.

Also confirm the reserved time. Does exclusivity cover the entire visit or only one stage? Will other guests arrive while your group is changing? These details can matter more to a guest’s comfort than the package name. Asking about them is a practical part of planning.

Check whether treatments happen together

A group reservation does not automatically mean every guest receives every treatment simultaneously. Ask how many people can be treated at once and what the others will do meanwhile. A staggered schedule may suit your group, provided you understand it before arriving.

Couples may want to share the hammam and choose different massage durations afterwards. Friends may prefer a shared social part and quieter individual treatments. Describe your preferred sequence and ask what the available rooms and team can accommodate on your date.

Make space for different preferences

Being in the same group does not make everyone comfortable with the same things. One person may prefer firmer massage, another lighter contact. Someone may enjoy conversation while another values quiet. Each person should have an opportunity to state their preferences directly.

If music, lighting or a small celebration matters, ask what can be arranged. Treat these as specific requests to confirm, rather than assumptions about a private package. Practical limits may depend on the space, neighbouring appointments and the treatments you choose.

Privacy includes communication and consent

Ask how clothing, covering and changing are managed. If you have an attendant preference, raise it before booking and request confirmation of availability. A professional spa visit should make it possible to ask for an explanation, change your mind about a stage or stop an application.

Photography also needs agreement. A group celebration does not mean every participant wants to appear in a photo, and other guests should not be included without permission. For a family visit, discuss children’s ages, supervision and what services, if any, the provider considers suitable before committing.

Put the arrangement in writing

A useful confirmation identifies the guest count, reserved spaces, treatment sequence, each person’s treatment duration, total price and agreed extras. It should explain changes to group size and cancellation terms too. Keep the confirmation so that your group and the provider share the same plan.

At Elegance, we invite couples and small groups to discuss the experience they would like before choosing a package. Tell us what privacy means to your party, which moments you want to share and which preferences are individual. Ask us to confirm the available arrangement for your chosen date.
